Dr. Pierre Blais was the former Senior Scientific Advisor for Canada’s now-defunct Department of Health and Welfare for fourteen years. He now runs Innoval Consultants, a firm engaged in the design, testing and failure analysis of high risk medical systems

In his line of work he has examined over 7,000 cases of explantation, from which they have recovered over 9,000 different implants. Blais says they’ve seen “every single type that has ever been used worldwide. Some are as old as the 1950’s.”

John Swanson

John Swanson interview conducted by Ann Devlin of www.annonline.com on Nov. 14, 1996

The guardian of Dow Corning’s much-admired ethics program, tells his employer of 26 years that he can no longer accept its decision to continue selling silicone breast implants and submits his recusal. A recusal means he would have nothing more to do with the product – he would not discuss it or help the company defend itself against criticism. This came after, among other things, Swanson’s wife endured one debilitating illness after another for 17 years – illnesses she believed to be caused by the silicone breast implants manufactured by her husband’s company.
